On Dwarves

Okay. This thing with "no dwarves". You know what, I don't want to see them in my porn, either, but I've made peace with it, and the chances of someone filling your prompt with a dwarf are almost zero because so few people write them. Stop it. It's like dwarves are guro or something. Just stop it, guys. No need to specify and alienate others by doing so. It's becoming a form of wank, and I'm not going to fill a prompt that says "no dwarves" because of it (or I will start intentionally microfilling with dwarves even though I don't like them either).

That said, I think if people state a preference, that's fine. Just don't say "I exclude this", you should be saying, "I would prefer this." As I stated, the chances of someone filling your prompt with a dwarf are pretty much zilch.

If they bother you that much, then copy/paste, find/replace. Seriously, guys, we're pushing away a talented section of the fanbase, and it's mostly the Zevran and M/M crowds doing it.

I wish you said this to me at the time that particular fight went down, it would've meant a lot to me.

I always feel excluded on my own damn BSN feed sometimes. It's not that I want everyone to read my stuff and like it (but man that would be nice) it's just that I feel like I'm not part of Team!Zev for doing what I do and my own preference for apparently boring straight people sex.

You do realize that the Team Zev members who are dwarf fans or prefer to play dwarves for one reason or another are about equal to the other groups on BSN? At large you'll always have a majority of yaoi fans with this style character, many of whom don't think too deeply about what they're reading (they just want the pretty boys kissing and DAMN YOU IF YOU GET IN THE WAY OF IT/SUGGEST ANY OTHER TYPE OF RELATIONSHIP EXISTS [yes, I realize I'm saying this on a journal that primarily writes m/m 'rotics, but the reason why I avoided any m/m writing for years was that particular type of reader]). In our little "clique" area, though, its always the dwarf kisses getting posted--really, its just the one person writing crazy elf on elf porn, and she makes me feel awkward for my mostly vanilla stuff too. I confess, I've been wondering where the hell you were, since you haven't posted on the Zevthread in a while.

The fight wasn't going on anywhere I frequent on BSN, and I was adhering to the no wank rule by posting it here instead of on the kmeme. You should write whatever the hell you want, and anybody who gives you grief over it can go fuck themselves. Besides, Missa does a lot of the unf unf, but its never really been about that, has it? Its an important expression of her personality, but not the thing that defines the story.
